Star Trek: Discovery is an American science fiction series that first premiered on September 19, 2017. Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman are the writers of the show. The plot centers around Michael Burnham and her crew who are traveling in the USS Discovery. They have been traveling in the future over nine hundred years since the original Star Trek show. In their journey, they discover new planets and meet new lifeforms.

Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 Premiere Date

Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 was all set to launch in April 2020, but it got delayed due to the ongoing pandemic. The third season was shot from July 2019 to February 2020 in Toronto, Iceland, and Canada. While half of the filming is already done, so we can expect season 3 to premiere in the next few months.

The upcoming season will have thirteen episodes. The show’s post-production continued remotely due to lockdown in various regions. However, creators haven’t fixed the release date of season 3 yet, fans are hoping for the show to launch before the end of 2020.

Anthony Rapp (Paul Stamets) revealed during an Instagram Live event that the team is currently editing the third season. However, the team is working from home, so it might take a few more months. Moreover, editor Scott Gamzon also posted that Star Trek: Discovery season 3 will take a bit longer to premiere.

The cast of the series before the pandemic announced that the third season would release in 2020. Sadly, now the stars are tweeting that it might take longer than expected to release the next season. But they promised that the wait will be worth it.

Who will be in the cast of Star Trek: Discovery Season 3?

The main cast team will reprise their role from the previous two seasons. Stars like Sonequa Martin-Green as Michael Burnham, Anthony Rapp as Paul Stamets, Doug Jones as Saru, Mary Wiseman as Sylvia Tilly, Wilson Cruz as Dr. Hugh Culber, Patrick Kwok-Choon as Gen Rhys, Ronnie Rowe as RA Bruce, Sonequa Martin-Green as Michael Burnham,  Rachael Ancheril as Nhan, Sara Mitich as Nilsson, Michelle Yeoh as Philippa Georgiou, Emily Coutts as Keyla Detmer, Oyin Oladejo as Joann Owosekun, and Tig Notaro as Jett Reno will return in season 3.

Fans will see many actors making a return for the third season. Moreover, we can also expect new faces in Star Trek: Discovery Season 3. Actors like Anson Mount and Ethan Peck will play the characters of Christopher Pike and Spock respectively. Furthermore, fans will also see David Ajala in the third part, playing a new character of Cleveland Booker or Book.

What will be the story of Star Trek: Discovery Season 3?

The show is based over nine hundred years in the future, since the premiere of the original Star Trek series. It looks like the third season will take a new turn in its storyline, which will be completely different from other Star Trek series. Fans are hoping the third season to be less dependent on legacy characters than the second season was.

The third part will explain the new content and what happens next to the characters. Fans already know the ship and the characters, but they don’t know what’s next. Nine hundred years into the future is a huge gap, and the context of the show will be redefined. This thing is actually new because Star Trek has never tried anything like this before. Fans might even see the crew exploring the 32nd century.
