Netflix’s adaptation of Ann M. Martin’s most loved book series ‘The Baby-Sitter’s Club’ has won the hearts of audience and critics alike.

The TV series that released on July 3, 2020, presents a group of high school friends who run a babysitting club in Stoneybrook, Conn, a fictional hometown. Spearheaded by 5 friends, Kristy Thomas (Sophie Grace), Mary Anne Spier (Malia Baker), Claudia Kishi (Momona Tamada), Stacey McGill (Shay Rudolph) and Dawn Schafer (Xochitl Gomez), the show is feminist without trying.

While the show is a modern adaptation of the books, which were published from 1986 to 2000, there’s one major piece of nostalgia in Netflix’s The Baby-Sitter’s Club: a corded, clear, see-through landline phone. Reminisced, yet?

Simply put, the series is an absolute feel-good delight, queer, effervescent and nostalgic. And if you too are a bit tired of re-watching the same season multiple times, don’t worry, we come bearing good news. Or at least, we hope so.

While there is no official announcement regarding Season two of the show, spoilers have been spotted here and there.

The creator of The Baby-Sitter’s Club, Rachel Shukert recently revealed that in spite of her small presence in the series, Jessi Ramsey would be “a big part of season 2”. She also shared the other storylines she wishes to tackle in the next season including familial relationships of those characters such as Kristy, Mary Ann and Dawn. I mean, there couldn’t be a bigger hint than that, right?

And much to one’s delight, several cast members have also shared their interest in continuing to play their beloved characters.

Rest assured your favourite club members will be returning for the next season. Although, we wouldn’t put past the idea of having some brand new faces possibly joining the next season.

Well, one can only assume that COVID-19 has derailed all production for the second season. Keeping up with its one season per year model, it’s safe to say 2021 might be the lucky year.

Hopefully, in due time, the fans can also get their much-awaited confirmation and finally have a reason to celebrate. Party for one, please! Because, social distancing, remember?

While the second season may feel like a lifetime away, it might be the perfect opportunity to read a few of the series’ books with your own future Baby-Sitters fan club

In the meantime, we’ll prep our mismatched earrings, spiritual healing podcasts and sneak junk food in for the umpteenth rerun of The Baby-Sitter’s Club.

If for some reason, you’re living under a rock and haven’t checked out The Baby-Sitter’s Club, here’s a sneak at the goodness to titillate those brain cells.
