The events of Jurassic World: Dominion take place four years after those of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Colin Trevorrow, who helmed the first Jurassic World film in 2005, will direct the last instalment of the Jurassic World trilogy.

The previous two films, which retooled Steven Spielberg and Universal Pictures’ original franchise, were movie office smashes. As a result, the studio was encouraged to finish the films and complete the trilogy.

Jurassic World 3 – Future Timeline Confirmed By Director

There is little plot information available for Jurassic World: Dominion. Nonetheless, it is expected that the upcoming film would wrap up everything in a spectacular and satisfying way when it arrives in 2022.

Despite the fact that Jurassic World: Dominion won’t be released in theatres for another year, the film has already generated a lot of excitement. This excitement is arguably best explained by the fact that the original cast members, Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and BD Wong, are all returning to reprise their roles in the sequel.

Not only will they return, but original Jurassic Park stars Laura Dern, Sam Neill, and Jeff Goldblum have also been set to return for the trilogy’s conclusion. Despite the thrilling cast announcements, it was unclear when the next film would be set after the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Trevorrow, who has put the timeline of Jurassic World: Dominion straight, has finally answered that dilemma.

Trevorrow stated that Jurassic World: Dominion takes place four years after the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in an exclusive interview with Screen Rant ahead of F9’s IMAX premier. He stated that the Jurassic World world is situated in the present day.

So, given the events of Fallen Kingdom took place in 2018 and the Battle at the Big Rock took place in 2019 (as portrayed in the short film of the same name), Dominion must take place in 2022, four years after the events in the second film.

Everything in my head has always been rather current. So Big Rock takes place a year or so after Fallen Kingdom, which was released in 2019, and the T-Rex had just emerged from the Sierra Nevada forest where they all escaped.

It’s enormous; it encompasses a large portion of the state. So she’s just been living there, and they’ve been trying to catch her for a long time. So this is roughly four years later – it’s the year the movie is out, so 2022.

Trevorrow considered the conclusion of the previous film and its follow-up short film for deciding the chronology for Jurassic World: Dominion. This might be a hint towards the upcoming film’s storyline, which many believe will have dinosaurs coexisting with humans.

Trevorrow has made it quite apparent that the Fallen Kingdom dinosaurs are still out there in the wild, stating that police would still be hunting for the T-Rex that had fled into the Sierra Nevada forest by the time the next film begins. This suggests that Jurassic World: Dominion will portray a full-fledged dinosaur infestation, with the heroes having to rescue the day.

It is not required, however, for all dinosaurs to be a nuisance. However, it is more plausible that although some dinosaurs would choose to coexist with people, others would cause devastation, similar to what was depicted at the end of the Battle of Big Rock.

Trevorrow’s remarks clearly imply what the forthcoming Jurassic World: Dominion film may look like. Fans already knew that the impending final film will leave the park and visit real-world sites, and now it’s been revealed that the film is set in the present day. This information should pique viewers’ interest until a trailer is released, which will provide a more detailed look at the film’s storyline.

That yet, the thought of Jurassic World: Dominion taking place in 2022 raises a logical concern regarding the film’s plot, namely if the COVID-19 epidemic would play a role in the events as well. It’s quite improbable, however, because the film is dealing with its own pandemic, which features terrifying Cretaceous reptiles wandering the Earth.
