Earlier, The Godfather is a 1972 American criminal-minded film directed by Francis Ford Coppola and produced by Albert S. Ruddy.

At that time the film was a great hit and becomes the highest-grossing film of the year which earned between $246 to $287 million at the box office. Not only this but it also won the Oscar Award for the Best Picture and Actor and also nominated for various awards. 

This movie is ranked the second greatest film in the American cinema by American Film Institute. Directors also made its two sequels named The Godfather Part 2 which was premeired in 1974 and the third part which was released in 1990.

The upcoming movie is set to be directed by Barry Levinson in which the Guatemalan-American actor Oscar Isaac will play the role of Francis Ford Coppola and a Swedish American actor Jake Gyllenhaal has been cast as producer Robert Evans. And till now, there is no official release date has been announced.
