The last season of The Walking Dead is nearing, and the AMC series has offered us a sneak peek.
Pictures released by Entertainment Weekly (scroll down below) give us a preview of what to expect from the eleventh season, and it appears that there will be an actual army of the dead to fight with.
The very first two photos show Rosita (Christian Serratos), Lydia (Cassady McClincy), Carol (Melissa McBride), and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) fighting what appear to be army-themed zombies.
The group looks to be in some type of military hangar, with helicopters flying overhead. Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) takes out a walker with a club in the final image.
Producer Scott Gimple of The Walking Dead indicated earlier this month that the last season will be “very, very, very, very grim.”

During a recent TWDUniverse Twitch live, he observed, “There’s some brightness amongst the dark.” “The black stuff, on the other hand, gets very, very, very, very dark. It isn’t completely dark. There are some rays of hope.”
The upcoming episodes will have “a degree of intensity,” according to Gimple. “With getting into further detail,” he said, “there was a level of excitement to such incidents that’s both an intensity of threat paired with the intensity of emotions behind it, and various histories of the folks becoming intertwined with it.”
In the United States, The Walking Dead is shown on AMC. Meanwhile, UK audiences can watch the show on FOX and NOW, with the programme moving to STAR on Disney+ on July 2.
