The American drama web television starring Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Steve Carell, “The Morning Show” is inspired by Brian Steller’s book “Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV ”. The series first premiered on Apple TV+ on November 1, 2019. It was an eye candy to watch Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston who were Green Sisters on Friends come together again as Co-anchors and executive producers.
The show begins amidst chaos when Mitch Kessler, a co-anchor for popular news and talk morning show is fired due to a sexual misconduct scandal. The show was announced on November 8, 2017, when Apple gave a production series order for two seasons of 10 episodes each. Initially, Jay Carson was expected to act as a writer and showrunner, however; on April 4, 2018, Carson left the production over certain creative differences.
During an Apple Special Event on March 25, 2019, a teaser trailer was released and it was made official that series will premier in November 2019. Jennifer Aniston won Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a female actor in a drama series and Billy Crudup also won Critics’ choice television award for Best supporting actor in a drama series.
Season 2 release and expected storyline.
Soon after the debut of The Morning Show, the second season was announced. Kerry Ehrin, the showrunner had mentioned that they are writing the show and will film it in summer with chances of being out by November 2020.
The production had already begun in February 2020 however, considering the global pandemic situation the production had to be paused in March hence no final statement has been made about its expected release date.
Both Witherspoon and Ehrin have made statements giving clue about the storyline of Season 2. It’s expected to be a lot about transition and most likely whole new world order lies ahead.
The expected cast for Season 2! Are Jennifer Anniston and Reese Witherspoon returning?
Honestly, I can answer this without skipping a beat. Of course, they are and in fact, efforts are being made to bring Steve Carell back as well. Carell was signed for a year’s contract but hopes are to bring Carell back in the next season too. According to sources producers are still exploring the context in which Carell’s return can be made to the show. Irrespective of all, the second season is definitely going to witness after-effects of chaos made by Carell’s character Mitch.
Although there is no official statement we have it from sources that production might begin later this year which in turn will confirm the release of season 2 most likely in the first quarter of 2021.
As soon as we have an official update, we will keep you all informed too.
