The OA (Orignal Angel) is Netflix’s original series. It was a gripping story and was popular among its genre despite all of its imperfections. The series had 2 seasons and fans are pondering on the fate of the Season Three.
Netflix announced the destiny of the OA series back in 2019. Show’s creator Brit Marling took her Instagram to post a long message mentioning to the audience of the show that Netflix will not be renewing the season three of The OA.
She went ahead and mentioned that she along with ZAl are deeply sad not to finish the story. She continued by saying that she had a good cry when she heard the news. She also stated that some of the other members of the team were also heartbroken as they learned about the decision of discontinuing the show. Her post was considered to be candid and straight from the heart and we can understand the reason as she was associated with it since the beginning.
Further to that, Cindy Holland, Vice President for Original Programming at Netflix, confirmed the cancellation of the series to the Press. She mentioned that they are super proud of all the 16 chapters of The OA and are much thankful to Brit and Zal for sharing their daring vision and for making it happen through their unbelievable creativity.
Cindy’s statement is the only official announcement from Netflix about The OA’s cancellation. Netflix has not given any press release or posted any confirmation regarding the cancellation on their official handles. The OA is a story that revolved around the mysterious abilities that she gets to adopt after being invisible for seven years.The interesting storyline won the hearts of viewers and now the expectations for the upcoming series has risen too.
T However the makers seemed to enter into a state of confusion post Season 2 and had not much to look forward to. As Netflix is the producer of the series, some other networks will not be able to pick the show, which means unfortunately it is the end for the OA.
One of the main reasons sighted to end the show was the budget concerns. The cost of producing the Third season The OA was so massive that the streaming partner Netflix decided not to produce the series further. For sure there is a lot of disappointment among the fans and the makers of the show as the show is not moving ahead. There was a lot that was supposed to be told, a lot many stories were supposed to be completed. This sudden closing of the show would leave many questions unanswered.
Let’s wait till the makers of show and Netflix agree to come up with the Season 3, till then hope for the best.
