William’s father used to work on MGM sets, where he grew up watching Gene Kelly dance of Singing in the Rain, Brando command the Bounty, and Bogart push the African Queen on stage.

Later William attended Cal Western University, University of Arizona, USC, and UCLA, majoring in psychology and pre-med. He accepted a position as a DP on 35mm without prior experience, where he read the ACS manual, and later received a master’s degree in film from UCLA.

He has many more accolades and worked in all sorts of astonishing conditions like a live recording of dialogs of the actors in fighter jets traveling at the speeds beyond the sound barrier in Top Gun, following which he was hired for Avatar.

When the amazing news of awarding him, has been shared with him, he was astonished, humbled, amazed, and thrilled at the same time, while thinking that how many amazing, world-class mixers Cinema Audio Society could have chosen over him, but he was lucky and deserving at this exact moment.
