It is normal to offer a single music video treatment, but offering the silver screen treatment to that music video? That can only be pulled off by Travis Scott.
The Houston rapper collaborated with IMAX to make Thursday’s worldwide premiere of his “Franchise” music video at select theatres, where it would not be so lowkey at the night showings of Christopher Nolan’s film Tenet (past 7 p.m. local time). Scott recently filmed for Nolan’s movie “The Mission.”
According to IMAX’s website, La Flame fans will witness the accompanying visual for his new single” Franchise, “which will fall via Cactus Jack / Epic on Friday (Sept. 25), with strong precision sound and the finest quality crystal-clear visuals on the largest screens. All the theatres concerned, which can be found here, must comply with local COVID-19 guidelines.
Nolan presented Scott, who posted it on Twitter, with a handwritten letter about his expectation of the world premiere of “Franchise” before the screening of his film. I can’t wait to hear it on the IMAX headphones, and see those sheep stampedes as part of a Travis / Tenet / Travis sandwich through the colossal projector! Penned the legendary Oscar-winning filmmaker. Travis-Love the video (shot on film, no less!).
Young Thug and M.I.A. are featured artists according to the “Franchise” CD promo single contained on Scott’s website. A video posted on Twitter Wednesday by the Astroworld dictator shows Thugger recording vocals alongside him, while in a video of herself listening to the track, the ‘Paper Planes’ artist tagged both rappers.
