Ten years after ‘Tron: Legacy’, the franchise starring Jeff Bridges is back in the news as, according to Deadline, it is confirmed that there will be a third part starring Jared Leto. ‘Tron 3’ also already has a director: it will be Garth Davis who goes behind the scenes in the science fiction film set in the famous cybernetic universe.
The choice is curious, since Davis, until now, has moved into more indie titles, like ‘María Magdalena’ or ‘Lion’, so this would be his baptism in the blockbuster. However, and although there is still no official confirmation from Disney, it seems that Garth himself has insisted and persecuted the studio executives for taking over the project.
Scripting?
The script will be in charge of Jesse Wigutow (‘Family things’) who has not yet given any clue about the possible plot of the film, which, besides, will have Leto himself as a producer. This is not the first time that a continuation of the story has been attempted.
What Are The Plans?
In 1982 the world met ‘Tron’ (Steven Lisberger) and got into the software with Jeff Bridges. Two decades later came a sequel, this time starring Garrett Hedlund. And although the second part was not the expected blockbuster, it obtained the not inconsiderable sum of 400 million dollars and the confirmation of a new installment a few years later.
However, the project that got the green light in 2015 within a few months was scrapped. It is true that since then there has been talking of this hypothetical third film; however, the rumors are louder than ever lately and more, and more sources suggest that the House of the Mouse is considering starting to work with this programmatic story at once.
CAST:
The ‘Morbius’ actor already indicated three years ago that he would be delighted to be a part of history, and his dreams may come true sooner rather than soon. Cinemablend collected that the actor would already be in talks with Disney for this film that, via Digital Spy, would indeed have a script prepared.
“We are considering doing ‘Tron 3’. We have a great script, a really fantastic script and that has us excited. Years ago, it was not the right moment, but I think now we feel that it is the right moment. We learned a lot from ‘Tron Legacy’ “.
It seems that indeed ‘Tron 3‘ would continue to work and in search of a director to go behind the scenes because the leading actor appears to be more than evident.
