The Uncharted movie is coming to theatres, albeit it’s been a rocky road thus far. The film, which is based on the same-named video game franchise, was in production for so long that Mark Wahlberg switched from portraying Nathan Drake to playing the elder character Sully. Over the previous 10 years, the picture has gone through a few directors, but production has now completed, and the February 2022 release date is getting closer. Tom Holland plays the protagonist, and we’ve seen a few glimpses of him in action. There’s also a few seconds of footage of Wahlberg and Drake together on the internet.

While you wait for the movie to come out next year, we’ve got lots of facts on it, including casting and narrative details, behind-the-scenes photos, and what Holland has said about playing Drake. Continue reading to learn all we know thus far about the Uncharted film.

Uncharted Movie – Release Date

The first Uncharted movie was set to be released in 2016 — enough to say, it has been postponed several times since then. The latest postponement pushed the Uncharted sequel from February 11 to February 18, 2022.

The film will also be available on Netflix. Netflix now has exclusive rights to watch Sony’s theatrical releases, including Uncharted, Venom 2, and Morbius, according to a new arrangement. These films, however, will not be available on Netflix at the same time as they are in cinemas, but rather within two years after their theatrical release. A new uncharted trailer for the film has also been officially released!

Uncharted Movie – Cast Members

The two brilliant co-stars in the next “Uncharted” film are one of the film’s major draws. The original “Uncharted” game series followed Nathan Drake, a grungy treasure hunter/thief, and Victor “Sully” Sullivan, his suave hustler mentor. Nathan Drake was meant to be played by Mark Wahlberg at first. Sony, however, opted to focus on a younger version of the character after several rewrites. Tom Holland, who played Nathan Drake in “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” was then cast in the part.

Sony, on the other hand, was not about to abandon Marky Mark. The advantage of creating a narrative about a young Nathan Drake is that Sully is younger as well. As a result, Wahlberg was able to come in and take on the character of Drake’s sleazy father figure.

Of course, nothing is as straightforward in this film. Some of the film’s casting selections have elicited conflicting reactions from fans, particularly with relation to Sully. Holland might play a believable younger Drake, but Wahlberg as Sully would be difficult to sell. This is especially true since reports that this Sully would not have his trademark moustache for the length of the film surfaced. Sully without a mustache, it seems, is on the verge of heresy. Despite this, many fans are hopeful about the film’s leading couple.

Uncharted Movie – Plotline

There is a unique combination of known and unknown variables in the narrative of the “Uncharted” film. We may deduce that the film will take place before any of the original “Uncharted” games based on what we know about these incarnations of Drake and Sully. The film will most likely not be a straight-up origin tale, given sections of “Uncharted 3” chronicled the circumstances surrounding Drake and Sully’s first encounter.

The majority of the details of this plot, which would take place between the flashback in “Uncharted 3” and the first game, remain unclear. However, we’ve seen a few scenes from the film that hint at possible narrative aspects.

The first is a photo of a book on Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan, who is recognised as being the first person to lead a round of the globe. In addition, shards of an old item with unclear function have been discovered.

Both of these features are in keeping with the “Uncharted” heritage. The majority of the games in the series revolve on Drake’s research of a legendary explorer. These always send him on a wild goose chase full of antiques and riddles, leading him to some forgotten city or enormous treasure vault. Given this, it appears that Sony Pictures is staying loyal to the series’ origins, which “Uncharted” fans will undoubtedly love.
