Netflix has released a trailer as well as a release date and a new title for its forthcoming dark comedy series, The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window. Previously, the series was known as The Woman in the House, and that was smaller but less comprehensive.
Kristen Bell’s next Netflix comedy has the longest title in modern TV history. The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window is an eight-episode limited-run series that debuts on Friday, January 28. It’s a “darkly humorous, wine-soaked, satirical spin on the psychological thriller.”
What does the trailer show?
The teaser provides us a glimpse inside the protagonist’s mundane existence and her wooded and bleak hamlet. Anna appears to have a *tad* of a drinking problem as she sips glass after glass of red wine as corks build up around her.
Viewers quickly call into doubt her claim of seeing a murder, as we see that she has been combining her vino with some prescriptions prescribed by her therapist, and she appears to be a touch forgetful, as she removes a hot pan from the oven without an oven mitt.
Bell, who has impeccable comic timing and a flair for the dramatics, appears to be a standout in the starring role.
Who is expected to cast for the upcoming Netflix series?
Michael Ealy (Stumptown) will be playing as Anna’s ex-husband, Douglas; Mary Holland (Veep) would be appearing as Sloane, a local art gallery owner, and Anna’s devoted best friend;
Shelley Hennig (Teen Wolf) is said to be cast for the role of Lisa, who is described as “sweet and sexy” Cameron Britton is expected to appear for the role of Buell, Anna’s simple-minded handyman; and Christina Anthony will show up for the role of Detective Lane.
Bell also contributes as an executive producer just on eight-episode miniseries, which has been produced by Rachel Ramras, Hugh Davidson, and Larry Dorf of Nobodies and also includes EPs Will Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum, and Brittany Segal from Gloria Sanchez Productions.
