Violet Evergarden is fantasy, sci-fi and a coming of age show based on the Japanese light novel by the same name written by Kana Akatsuki and illustrated by Akiko Takase. The novel won the grand prize in the fifth Kyoto Animation Awards.
The novel was given a shape for a television series by Kyoto Animation and was aired in January 2018. The show was nominated under five categories in the 2019 Crunchyroll Anime Awards and won the award for Best Animation of the year.The show also has a rating of 8.4/10 on IMDb and a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Will there be a Season 2 for Violet Evergarden?
Though a sequel was not in the original plan, due to increased requests by fans, the creators announced that a “new project” is under the way in July 2018. Then it was revealed that it was going to be a film! Though the film was initially scheduled to be premiered on January 10, 2020, it got postponed first to April and then to September 18, 2020, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
The plot of the film
The director of the film Ishidate Taichi said in an interview that he hopes that people will feel Violet’s love for Gilbert through the movie.This has led to many theories that Gilbert Bougainvilla, the late soldier and Violet’s master, might have a reappearance.
The storyline of the original series follows Violet Evergarden, a girl who was deeply injured both physically and mentally in a war with no human emotion trying to understand the last words (“I Love You”) her master, Gilbert Bougainvillea said to her.
By the end of the show, we see how much progress she has made in the emotional aspect. Her transformation from being a mere weapon to becoming an actual human being with emotions moved the heart of anyone watching the show. So, we can expect a more emotional Violet in the movie who would tug our heartstrings.
The cast of the new film
Expected voice over artist for the series are Yui Ishikawa voices the character of Violet Evergarden and Daisuke Namikawa voices the character of Gilbert Bougainvillea that are going to give us chillz with their expressional voices.
