Complete WandaVision spoilers ahead! The episode of Marvel Studios’ WandaVision last week showed that others saw it coming when it was reported that Agnes of Kathryn Hahn was indeed none other than Agatha Harkness, Marvel Comics witch.
The discovery comes after the character of Elizabeth Olsen creeps down into the basement of the home of Agnes, only to discover eerie trees, spooky fog, and unidentified grimoires concealed from the jovial West View view.
WandaVision photography director Jess Hall, speaking in a recent interview, confirmed that Marvel President Kevin Feige had just one note for the series, it’s gotta be scary.
The aspect ratio, where the transformation was going to happen, “Mary Livanos, our producer, and [director] Matt Shakman and I – it was one that we had to kind of revisit together a couple of times to decide on quite how it was gonna work – the aspect ratio, where the transition was going to happen, “Mary Livanos, our producer, and [director] Matt Shakman and I-it was one that we had to revisit together a few times to decide exactly how it was going to work.
A lot of thought went into it, but basically, it’s a very classic theme, just the image of going down, you know. You go down to a cellar, you’re heading for darkness. So I was really experimenting with that really basic iconography. And eventually, I could sort of get into my full dramatic-film-lighting MCU, which I’ve been looking forward to for a while.
So just welcoming all the kinds of LED technologies we have now at our disposal, and Mark Worthington’s brilliant set design, and embracing the dark. “That was the note from Kevin Feige, “This needs to be dark and scary.’
However, the disclosure of Agnes as Agatha Harkness has Marvel fans talking about the final two episodes of the season, including theories from Marvel Comics about who else we might see show up.
As readers may remember, both Harkness and Wanda have a link to the “Devil” aka Mephisto’s comic edition, a link that might spell doom for the twins. We are only two weeks away from figuring out how far the rabbit hole, or eerie cellar, goes, with rumors already running wild about the surprise special guest in the season.
The first seven episodes of WandaVision are currently available on Disney+ with new episodes falling at 3 AM EST / 12 AM PT on Friday mornings.
