With the second instalment of Sex Education having ended and the third picking up right where it left off, Netflix’s much-loved sexually explicit teen drama has returned. Eric (Ncuti Gatwa) and Adam (Connor Swindells) are trying to figure out the rules of their new relationship. Maeve (Emma Mackey) and Otis (Asa Butterfield) have a tense relationship.
And Otis’ mother, Jean (Gillian Anderson), attempts to hide an unwanted pregnancy from her ex-boyfriend, Jakob, the chilly blue-eyed man (Mikael Persbrandt). Even after eight episodes, we still don’t know how these blooming romances will turn out, but we do know one thing for certain: Otis and Maeve have finally expressed their actual feelings for one another.
As for season 4 rumours, Butterfield told Cosmopolitan: “We don’t know [whether there will be anymore].” At this moment, we have no control over the situation. I wish I had more information to share with you, but the truth is, I’m stumped.
However, in an interview with ELLE, he and Gatwa stated that they would like to see additional episodes. As for the romance between Maeve and Otis, Butterfield wants to know how the two of them deal with life without the pressure of their romance. For him, the wider picture is something he’d like to see people take into consideration. “To discover who they are and how they relate to others, whether platonically or romantically.”
His real-life pal Gatwa was also promised with more sequences. Butterfield described Otis and Eric as “their most authentic selves” when they were together. It would be great if there were more scenes with us. Gatwa continued, “We ask for that every season.” Show creator Laurie Nunn is like, ‘What do you want?” he says. “More moments with Otis.”
There’s a good chance a fourth season will arrive sooner than expected, potentially as early as late 2022, given the gap between seasons 2 and 3, mostly caused by filming delays caused by the coronavirus epidemic.
Season 3 left us with many unanswered questions, so we can expect season 4 to do its best to resolve them. However, there’s also a good chance that Maeve will return from her trip to the States—possibly with an American accent?—and reignite her feelings for Otis.
All Sex Education students, including Eric, Ola, Adam, and others, must fulfil their final term before going off to college. However, with the sale of Moordale, who knows where the hot students will obtain their diplomas? Season 4 will have a lot of unanswered questions.
