Finally, here’s something every bookworm was looking forward to. Celeste Ng’s novel, Little Fire Everywhere, would be getting a screen time now. The novel is based on a story set in the ‘90s but undoubtedly, it still feels more timely today. The setting of the story is in Shaker Heights, Ohio, where the book takes you through the lives of two mothers who part ways due to their different backgrounds.
Elena Richardson (played by Reese Witherspoon) is a White woman having this increasing affinity for normalcy and perfection and is genuinely structured in her own ways. On the other hand, we have Mia Warren (played by Kerry Washington) who is a Black artist known to enjoy and live in the moment. She is a transient lady who has been running away from her past.
The conflict lies in their daughters who admire the characteristics of not their mothers but the others. Let me explain! Mia’s daughter, Pearl (Lexi Underwood), is extremely fond of the structure the Richardsons possess. Whereas Elena’s daughter, Izzy (played by Megan Stott) loves the way Mia lives her life.
The book focused on many different aspects related to the two families including that of race, discrimination, responsibilities, identity and certainly, the series would also touch upon these aspects. The series has garnered a phenomenal rating of 78% on Rotten Tomatoes. The show was a perfect adaptation that was loved by many and now people are craving for yet another season.
However, there haven’t been any news regarding Season 2. Thus, there is no release date out yet.
