Avan Jogia has maintained his presence on the tiny screen, despite the advent of the Internet. Avan Jogia introduced Beck Oliver to an episode of “iCarly” during his “Victorious” tenure. The show was titled “iParty with Victorious.” Once “Victorious” was over, he lost little time expanding away from Beck and Nickelodeon alike. Jogia’s first lead TV role was on “Twisted,” where he played Danny Desai. His next project would have immense historical significance and allow him to rub shoulders with a silver screen icon, but he wasn’t discouraged.
As of July 2015, Spike began airing a miniseries called “Tut” on Egypt’s mysterious ruler Tutankhamun. Joining Sir Ben Kingsley, Jogia will play the ancient Pharaoh. But then played Roman Mercer in all 13 episodes of “Ghost Wars” and Ulysses Zane in the only ten episodes of “Now Apocalypse.” “The Stranger,” a 2020 thriller on the short-lived streaming service Quibi, is his most recent TV performance as of this writing, but odds are we’ll see him back on the small screen sooner rather than later.
As a filmmaker, Jogia’s work is outstanding. He’s done some good job on television since leaving Beck Oliver behind, but he hasn’t shied away from the big screen. He landed roles in “Ten Thousand Saints,” “I Am Michael”, and “Here Now” during 2015. Before beginning on an outstanding streak of feature films at the close of the decade, he’d appear in “Shangri-La Suite,” “The Drowning”, and “The Outcasts” in 2016 and 2017, respectively, and in “The Year of Spectacular Men” in 2018.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Rebecca Addelman’s “Paper Year” were among Jogia’s most notable 2018 credits. “Zombieland: Double Tap” gave him a role as a free-spirited zombie survivor, and “The Artist’s Wife” rounded out the year. For the remainder of 2020, Jogia will take a cinematic sabbatical before returning in 2021 for “The Exchange” and “Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City.”
This is Avan Jogia’s first feature-length film after several successful short-form projects. Currently in post-production, “Door Mouse,” a film starring Famke Janssen, Donal Logue and himself, among others, has no set release date.
He is an aspiring musician. Beck Oliver was no stranger to picking up a guitar and working his vocal cords throughout “Victorious.” Avan Jogia, a Hollywood Arts High School student, excelled at composing music, whether on his own or with his classmates. Saint Ivory, a band he formed with his equally gifted brother Ketan, is another example of the actor’s talents. ‘Mixed Feelings’ is the duo’s most recent album, which was released in 2020.
No matter what he has chosen to do, Avan Jogia has achieved success. No of the media, he continues to wow audiences as an actor. He also has proven himself to be an accomplished musician, and he’s campaigning for a cause that will benefit the entire world. Jogia maybe Beck Oliver to a whole generation of TV watchers, but he’s gone far beyond his Nickelodeon roots.
