The entire times of late 90s and early 2000s was the time for Josh Hartnett who skyrocketed when it comes to Hollywood fame overnight.
Next to old times popular actors like Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, and Ben Affleck, he was one of the hottest and everyone’s beloved star but eventually, he disappeared in Hollywood for a while and now he has come up and given few insights to his fans about ‘why did he decide to take a break in his acting career in Hollywood’
During his high fame times, he was one kind of actor who was a part of big blockbusters movies as well. He is also known for changing the entire course with his Hollywood career taking a hard turn in another direction than what the studios had planned for him, and he never looked back. He recently told the reason why, here is what he said:
“They looked at me as someone who had bitten the hand that fed me. It wasn’t that. I wasn’t doing it to be recalcitrant or a rebel. People wanted to create a brand around me that was going to be accessible and well-liked, but I didn’t respond to the idea of playing the same character over and over, so I branched out. I tried to find smaller films I could be part of and, in the process, I burned my bridges at the studios because I wasn’t participating. Our goals weren’t the same”
Josh Hartnett made his popular fame with his films like The Faculty and The Virgin Suicides. But the fame wasn’t up to the top marks until Pearl Harbor from which he reached a new level of fame that had put him on an entirely different trajectory in his Hollywood career.
He even said that he received chances to take lead roles in Batman and Superman but he decided to do another project instead. Adding to that, he also said that his fame was so overwhelming that he didn’t even know whom he could trust so he just thought to be with his friends and family down in Minnesota.
Reports say that he got a role to play straight-up as Superman but he refused to take the offers as his idea about what a character would be was in stark contrast to the studios.
After his appearance as the lead actor in the horror film, 30 Days of Night, he wasn’t seen too often for any other big roles, and slowly he disappeared from the public eye. After the movie, he only did smaller movie projects.
Now he is coming back on screens after a long break by appearing on the TV shows like Penny Dreadful, Drunk History, and Paradise Lost.
Reports say that in the film world Josh has teamed up with James Franco for the creation of the movie, The Long Home and he will also be working with Guy Ritchie on his upcoming film Wrath of Man with Jason Statham. So, probably we can expect to appear in many upcoming movies in the future.
