According to CBS, “The Young and the Restless” celebrated its 12,000th episode in December 2020, which occurred during the show’s 31st year on the air.

With over three decades of broadcasting across the United States, the show has delivered many amazing stories, but it has also meant farewells to many of the show’s beloved stars. Actors like Jordi Vilasuso, for example, have been rumoured to be leaving recently.

Hunter King, who has played Summer Newman for nearly a decade, is the most recent actor whose future on “The Young and the Restless” has been called into question.

After the character, who had been performed by a number of child actors for years, was abruptly aged to a teenager, King joined the show in 2012, taking over the role from Lindsay Bushman.

While King has been a consistent presence on the long-running soap opera, some fans have speculated on Twitter that her character may be on her way out.

Summer’s abrupt retirement, if it occurs, would not be the first time in the soap opera’s long history that a popular character has made an unexpected exit.

Here are some things to consider if you’re wondering whether Hunter King will be leaving “The Young and the Restless”

Hunter King Hasn’t Made Any Official Announcements About His Departure From The Restless And The Young

Hunter King has been a main cast member on “The Young and the Restless” since 2012, and he has established himself as a dependable component of the show’s ensemble. While King is a familiar figure on the show, she has previously left for a period of time.

Her most notable absence occurred after she was cast in the CBS sitcom “Life in Pieces” in 2016, according to Deadline. Her new work required her to hand over the character of Summer to actress Bayley Corman, who she reprised in 2018.

Outside of her regular appearances as Summer on “The Young and the Restless” and its sister show “The Bold and the Beautiful,” according to King’s IMDb biography, the actress has no obligations in the works.

In an April 2021 interview with TV Source, King also mentioned her character’s future, including the prospect of adding a kid to the family.

Without any concrete signals from King or CBS that her departure is impending, fans shouldn’t be too concerned about the actress’s future as Summer. Of course, anything can happen on “The Young and the Restless,” so fans will have to tune in to find out what the authors have in store for them next.
