The Army of the Dead is an upcoming project of the American filmmaker Zack Synder. Zack Synder is a well-known filmmaker who has directed, produced and written super-hit movies. The Army of the Dead is a zombie heist saga taking place in a casino in Las Vegas. It will premier this year on Netflix. The cast includes Guardian of the Galaxy star, Dane Bautista along with Ella Purnell, Ana de la Reguera, Garret Dillahunt, Raul Castillo, Omari Hardwick, Hiroyuki Sanada, TigNotaro, and Matthias Schweighofer. The teaser of the movie was released in January and has achieved much hype.
Synder’s Experience and he calls it the “most satisfying”
“It is a full-blown, balls-to-the-wall zombie heist movie, so it’s genre-on- a genre in a great way,” Synder shared.
In an interview, he also told how he was in a meeting at the Netflix office discussing the whole theme and plans and picture he had in his mind for the zombie thriller movie, and everyone in the meeting said “this is what we needed”. Everyone was excited to work on this project as the story is something different than the regular zombie movies. The shooting started back in 2019 at various locations, including Las Vegas. Netflix is so confident about this film and, they have already scheduled a prequel film and an anime television series to expand the “Army of the Dead” franchise.
Synder asserted that directing and filming this movie gave him a chance to get closer to the actors and photography. He adds that being behind the lenses reminded him of the days when he used to shoot TV commercials and from where he started his career. He also shared that people eagerly ask him “how he managed to direct and filming the movie at once”. He answered that “it is extremely easy to communicate with the crew and actors as they are right there in front of you”.
He calls it the “most satisfying” as he enjoyed the whole journey. He also tells about his old friend, John Clothier, who was co-filming with him. Synder said that when he directs bigger films, he doesn’t get much chance to go behind the lens and shoot but, through this movie he did it and rejoiced his days of struggle.
Everyone has their most satisfying and favorite work through their entire work. Hope we will get more such movies from Zack Synder.
